About
About Centreline Practice
An independent study aid for practitioners of the Wing Chun forms, made by a practitioner to help with the part of training that happens between classes.
Sources
The lessons follow the Wing Tsun system as set out in Grandmaster Leung Ting’s books. Each lesson cites the book and printed pages it follows:
- Leung Ting, Wing Tsun Kuen (Siu Nim Tau)
- Leung Ting, Chum Kiu
The books are not reproduced on this site: no text, photographs or diagrams are copied from them. If you want to study from the books themselves, please obtain them from their publisher.
The Chum Kiu lesson also links to two public demonstration videos on YouTube for comparison: Chum Kiu by Csaba Sihing Kerekes, and Follow Along Chum Kiu by Wing Tsun Martial Arts. They belong to their owners and open on YouTube.
Centreline Practice is not affiliated with or endorsed by any Wing Chun or Wing Tsun association, school, author or video creator mentioned here.
How the 3D figures are made
The instructor is a 3D figure whose positions were set by hand at each checkpoint of the form, with the movement between checkpoints interpolated. It is not motion capture, and joint angles, distances and timing are approximations. Pressure, balance and weight distribution are not simulated.
- Body: based on MakeHuman assets (CC0).
- Hands: adapted from Snow Rig (CC) Blender Foundation | studio.blender.org, licensed CC BY 4.0.
- 3D rendering: three.js (MIT licence).
Privacy
There are no accounts, adverts or analytics. Your saved steps, notes and preferences are stored only in your own browser’s local storage and are not sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.
If you open the in-app video comparison, the YouTube player is loaded from YouTube, which may set its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy.
Training safely
Practise within your own limits and stop if anything hurts. This is a memory and visualisation aid; it does not assess your movement, and it does not replace instruction from a qualified teacher.
